1. The difference between sublimation and True color fired decals.

Sublimation is heat sealing the image to the surface of your ceramic piece, it is then painted with a water based glaze. Sublimation will fade in UV light and because it is on the surface of the product it will scratch
easily.

Kiln fired decals are fired at just under 1500 degrees and the images melt down into the glaze. After the glaze cools and hardens the surface is as strong as any ceramic tile and will not be effected by UV light, water, cleaning solutions heat of cold.

Our process. First you need a ceramic printer. Our printer is loaded with minerals and pigments Not traditional inks. We use special decal paper so that we can soak the decal off the paper. I do all of my digital work in Photoshop which has been configures to work with my printer. The image is printed out and once dry is heat sealed between to sheets, one of paper and the other acts as a cover coat to seal the pigments.
Then the image is cut to size and soaked off the paper and applied to the ceramic piece. Our decals can only be applied to a already fired piece of ceramic, one that has already been glazed. Once all the moisture has been removed the piece is left to dry for at least 7-12 hours. The longer the better.
The dry tiles or ceramic pieces are fired in our kiln to a temperature of  just under 1500 degrees. The decal paper burns away, while the glaze just melts enough to allow the pigments to sink into the glaze. Once the firing is complete the kiln is left to cool down. The pieces are removed and left to cool at room temperature  for several hour in order for the glaze to cure and harden. Our images are deep within the glaze creating durable surface that will not be affected by UV light, water, and are almost impossible to scratch.
(Typically if it says Indoor use only it is a sublimation product not kiln fired)

We can apply  your images on any of our ceramic pieces. Our dinner ware is dishwasher safe. All our murals are carefully packed and arrive with full installation instructions. Because our murals are kiln fired you can use sanded grouts. Our tiles can be treated as you any other store bought tile.
